Why Do We Have Music Theory?
What's most important is that your music sounds good. In the words of Duke Ellington, "If it sounds good, it is!" Music theory is theory. Just like evolution or any other theory. A theory is a way that we explain what we see in nature. You don't have to have a name for or understand a chord or scale to use it. It doesn't invalidate your playing. Music theory serves as a communication device for musicians.
