These
chords work really well for shout music. To learn them well, start with
the first two, playing them back and forth. Once you are comfortable
with those, add the next one and play these three back and forth.
Continue adding them one at a time until you have them down. Try
arpeggiating the notes of each chord as you go up and down the
keyboard.
Practice
these with a typical I-IV shout progression (4 beats on Ab7, 4 beats on
Db7). In the left hand play either the walking bass line
(Ab,Bb,B,C,Db,F,Gb,G) or Ab13 to Db13 (Ab13 - Gb,Bb,C,F; Db13 -
F,Bb,B,Eb). These are "rootless" voicings
