How To Use A Play-Along Track

Using play-along tracks is a great tool that serves many purposes.  They are very helpful in preparing beginning musicians to play with other musicians.  You can also practice improvisation with a play-along track.  They're also a lot more fun than using a metronome.  As mentioned in this video, you can "tune out" the piano or the bassist by "panning" or turning off the left or right channel.  If you're using earphones, you can just pull out the right earphone and you'll just hear bass and drums.  On a computer, you can adjust the audio options to just play through the left speaker.  Another option is to just unplug your right speaker.  You're the star!
