How Do You Play With A Band?
Learning how to play with a band is a crucial element in being a musician in church. If you don't play well with others, you'll have a difficult time being used. Two of the keys to playing well in a band are good rhythm and playing the right chords. Try to focus on both of these elements when using the play-along tracks . This requires you to listen to what you are doing. Many times, beginning musicians repeatedly make the same mistakes simply because they don't listen to themselves. Try recording yourself and listening for things you need to work on. When playing with play-along tracks or CDs, make sure that you play your chords in time with the bass player. Also, listen to see if your chord fits with the bass player. Make sure your fills fit with the drummer's timing.
